The synthetic validity calculator requires users to identify which knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics are important to a job. Ideally, this is determined based upon a formalized job analysis. See the Job Analysis Tool for an instrument linked to the BID taxonomy. We recommend using this.

Once important KSAOs are identified, users must then select which BID scales they wish to assess. Following this, the BID database is leveraged to estimate the correlation between a composite of performance-ratings aligned to the chosen KSAOs and a composite of the selected biodata scales.
